It was after quite a bit of procrastination (that’s not like me at all 😉 ) that I finally got started on the fondant toppers for the Plants vs Zombies birthday cake. The plants were fun and fairly simple to make, but I only did the zombies head in the end. I get a bit nervous tackling human figures (even if they are undead!).

I love baking and decorating cakes for my children’s birthdays. But I have to confess, I have such a hard time settling on the final design! Yes, it’s official. I’m indecisive. Or at least I think I am?
Jungle fondant cake toppers
A while ago I offered to make some fondant decorations for a friend to put on her daughters’ birthday cake. There were only two days to go until her party so I said nothing too big that would take a long time to make and dry. Her first thoughts were athletics and gymnastics, which scared me when I imagined making little people in a rush. But then she told me her daughter also loved jungle animals, so we went with that theme – much easier to make animals than people!
Ladybird themed fondant decorations
In a couple of weeks we’ll be catching up with my brother and his family in Broome for a week-long holiday {yay, can’t wait to lounge by the pool!}. My niece recently celebrated her second birthday, but we haven’t seen her since last Christmas, so I want to make a cute birthday cake to take up there. Hopefully it will travel well in the plane!!
